6/15/2012 Update #2: Pebbles has found her new home with Greg and Rita Saurete. Thank you to The Saurete’s for opening their home to Pebbles. We believe all three of them will be very happy. Thank you to everyone involved in this rescue.
6/8/12 Update #1: Pebbles has been adopted by a home in Oregon that has Komondors and Alpacas.
Pebbles is our 4th LGD, and 2nd Komondor. We need two at all times to protect our commercial ewe flock of 100 and their lambs. I do know how to bring them along for the best chance for success. We have certainly had episodes of inappropriate playing with stock with other dogs, but never have had actual extreme bloody mauling. Besides this, she is NOT bonded with livestock at all. She came to our farm to be an LGD but after a year and much time, training and attention, she has become even rougher with the lambs. This week she caused lethal damage, so we are giving up on her for this job. She is extremely well socialized with people (we got her at about a year old from a busy family full of kids). She is very well bred but not registered. She is not spayed, but that will need to be done by her adopters; recently had a full body clip, walks on a leash, great with other dogs, less territorial than a Komondor we used to have but she will certainly bark at unusual things, fine with horses and not a threat to our cats. Please let me know if you can help find Pebbles a new home. We are located in Oregon, near Eugene.
